Good morning folks, Hope all is well and welcome to new users of Derbyshire Alert. As we are all aware that the first storm of October 2026 landed around Derbyshire yesterday, Storm Austen, and therefore lots of debris mainly from the trees has covered a few rural roads, therefore please take care and reduce your speed. Many trees have again fallen down, blocking roads around South Derbyshire area, and due to the next storm today, Storm Boelo please give yourself time to travel to your destination, if you have to travel. There was a two car road accident yesterday evening around the Linton Heath stretch of Linton, whereby one car ended upside down. Fortunately, thanks to the help of local neighbours before the attendance of the Police, the Fire service and the ambulance there has been no life changing injuries to any of the casualties. Over the last couple of weeks there has been reports of number plate thefts, so if possible get your vehicle plates securely fitted by using anti-theft screws. One for your diary :- All Saints Church, Lullington on Saturday 31st October at 12 noon, and back by popular demand, BONNIE the beautiful Shire horse, will be in attendance to reveal the hundreds of poppies and displays created by the wonderful ladies from The Woolly Bunch. The displays around the village, especially around and inside the church are incredible, therefore pop along, have a coffee and a cake in the village hall and then a nice walk around this beautiful village. Raising funds for the Royal British Legion. Last year's picture below with a cuddle from Bonnie 🐴❤️ Finally the clocks go back one hour at 2am Sunday, tomorrow. This marks the end of British Summer Time so the mornings will be lighter earlier and the evenings will get darker sooner. Keep safe and thank you for your attention ☺️
